Webflail Roundup

⚡️Get out of your own head and launch that thing!⚡️

Jack

Hey Webflailers - it’s Jack.

Isn't it crazy that we care more about other people's expectations of ourselves than our own expectations of ourselves?

I remember being so worried about posting the first website I built on Twitter.

It was shit frankly.

But, I was relieved to find no one said anything awful. No old school bullies sent me any dm's with sneering comments. In fact, I found no one really cared at all apart for the odd "cool website man," type of comment.

And essentially, I realised that everyone is too busy focussing on their own life to care about whatever creative thing you do.

So maybe there's a startup idea, or a website you want to build, or a portfolio you want to share but haven't because you have this niggle of fear about sharing what you're doing because you're worried about what others might think.

I hope it's a relief to hear that the no one cares so just do it please. And if people actually do care about the creative thing you do, you may be on to something big...

Today:

  • Ep 91 | Why you should ask more questions as Webflower | with Kendra Rainey
  • 3 Inspo sites
  • 3 Webflow jobs
  • Webflailer of the week

Let the litmus see the test.

Streamline your Webflow business with Bonsai 🚀

Before, sending contracts and getting invoices paid is a nightmare.

I never even knew what to write on a contract, nor did I have clear systems about chasing clients up who hadn't paid

That's where Bonsai came in.

I handle Webflail sponsorships, freelance clients and Macu agency clients all through Bonsai.

Here's why:

  • Simplify client billing and track profitability: Put billing on autopilot with recurring payments and monitor your revenue across projects and clients.
  • Contracts that protect you: If client projects go wrong, it's important to have a contract in place that both parties have signed to ensure there is a clear agreement in place
  • Timetracking to ensure transparency: Track the time you work, add notes and variable hourly rates. Add them to an invoice to create a timesheet that your client can see

Ep 91 | Don't publish your Webflow site before doing this! | with Isabelle Cuisset

Today my guest is Isabelle Cuisset.

Fascinatingly, her background is in merchandising.

She has an extensive background in the fashion industry, working with major luxury brands such as Burberry, Loewe, and Prada for over two decades.

Moving towards the digital world, she graduated from a ten-month Web Development Bootcamp at TripleTen (ex Practicum by Yandex) in 2021. Driven by her passion, she decided to launch her own web design and development studio.

3 days a week, she’s still in the fashion world and 2 days a week as a Webflower.

The failures we’ll talk about in today’s episode are:

  1. Failing to realise what you see is not always what you get!
  2. Failing to get content from clients before starting a project
  3. Failing to learn something new every day

3 Inspo Websites

Topsphere Media

Naughty little details bring this one together for me - on scroll animations, on hover navbar item camera clicking effect, 3D logo rotating in footer. These are things that elevate the site and give this media company an attention to details feel.

53 West

Balky Studio run by Carter Ogunsola collab with WillieUI just killed it. Clean, stunning colours, photography on point. Sensual rolling images. Stop it. If I had a few hundred grand spare, I would consider investing in a property after seeing this saucy site.

Eva Sánchez

I always think it's great to treat your portfolio as your most portfolio piece. If you're an interactive designer, it makes sense to have a killer interactive portfolio right?! Such beaut work from Eva. I should get her on the podcast!
